Shout to the Universe, "I have policy ideas!"

Inspired by insheepsclothng, I think it's time to finally get off my butt and get a blog going. However, I figure I'd get some advice both on whether I should do it in the first place, how I should go about it, and what I should call it. I'm also a bit motivated because I'm considering doing a piece for the Global Strategy Institute Blog and I figure I can probably get a name link out of it, if I have a site ready. This will be in my own name, this journal is where I'll keep personal stuff. Over time I'll probably tend towards more friends-locked posts.

Poll #1036250 Blogging

Should I start blogging in some form

Sure, go for it.

Only in a particular form (see question 2).
0(0.0%)
Eh, maybe, up to you.
1(8.3%)
Probably a bad idea because it's a waste of time and effort.
0(0.0%)
Probably a bad idea because you risk future employment prospects or may have to shut it down if you get a government job.

What naming or organization should I go for

Eponymous. Since you're doing this under your own name, why complicate things.
1(10.0%)
Try to set up a group blog with some friends, starting out alone is tricky.
0(0.0%)
Go for a neologism, though possibly a less evil one than Synerdigm
1(10.0%)
Go for an existing word or phrase that's relevant to your content.
2(20.0%)
Don't start your own site, things are oversaturated, just try to post on existing ones until you get a regular gig.

I'd also be interested if people have any suggestions regarding which blogging software to use.
