If they were going to throw him overboard, it would have made more sense to do it months ago. I think the key difference is the appearance of weakness. Miers and Brown weren't ditched anywhere near elections. I was wondering a bit after the "Fantastic job" comment. It was a bit too close to "heck of a job."
